Established in the year 1968,the University of Calicut is the largest institution of higher learning inKerala in terms of jurisdiction and student intake. There are currently 35teaching departments, 398 affiliated colleges, 11 chairs and 41 self-financingcentres under the varsity. The University has re-accredited with 'A' Grade by NAAC.The University caters to the educationalrequirements of the Malabar region, consisting of the most backward districtsof the state. The courses offered by the University are specially designed tosuit the ethos and requirements of the region.
