Everyone knows that we got an independence from British rulers on Aug 15th, 1947. But does anybody know that there was one region in India which didn't get freedom on August 15th, 1947? (It was not GOA). Yes. There was and it was not under British ruling at all when British Government was ruling India. The people belong to that area were under Nizam’s cruel dictatorship and fought against Nizam even after India got freedom from British on August 15th 1947. That means they had to wait for 1 more year to get freedom. Many people sacrificed their lives to get their freedom from the oppressive rule of Nizam. At last they got independence on 17th Sept 1948, .i.e. there was exact 1 year 32 days gap from Aug 15th, 1947. This occasion is celebrate as "Telangana Vimochana Dinam" The area is called as TELANGANA. Now it is part of Andhra Pradesh State. My grand father used to tell many stories about Telangana movement, how they used to misbehave with women. The ruling of Nizam was more arrogant and cruel than British ruling. There was only Urdu medium to study, no safety for women, and there were so many problems. Everyone knows about fight against British people. But most of the people (even in Andhra also) don’t know about this.
