After backing Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal-United chief Nitish Kumar’s prime ministerial ambitions, Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Yadav along with Nitish is all set to meet Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi in the national capital on Sunday to discuss the agenda other than ‘opposition unity’, sources said. Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad will meet Sonia Gandhi at 6 pm in Delhi and holds much more important than it seems, the sources claimed. As per Rashtriya Janata Dal sources, the meeting is important not only to strengthen the Opposition for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024 but for various reasons as the party chief will seek assurance from Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi in the ‘unity of the opposition to agree for compromises’. Nitish Kumar Meets Lalu Yadav In Delhi, Discuss Current Political Situation

New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar arrived in Delhi on Tuesday and held a meeting with RJD supremo Lalu Prasad during which they were understood to have discussed the current political situation amid efforts to strengthen the Opposition unity to take on the BJP in the 2024 parliamentary elections. The meeting between the two Bihar politics stalwarts came on a day Mr Kumar's deputy and Lalu Prasad's son Tejashwi Yadav appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here for questioning in a money laundering case linked to the alleged land-for-jobs scam case. After arriving in the national capital, Mr Kumar headed to Misa Bharti's home where Lalu Prasad is staying. Mr Kumar met Lalu Prasad and enquired about his health. Source said they also discussed the current political situation. During his Delhi visit, Mr Kumar is expected to meet a slew of Opposition leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. Mr Kumar, on several occasions in the past, advised all opposition parties, including the Congress, to join hands to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
