Ponniyin Selvan 2 will soon start streaming on OTT giant Amazon Prime Video. They have secured rights to the movie as it did for its first chapter. With so much love pouring in for PS 2, the movie might not be able to hit the digital space until about five weeks after its theatrical release. Well, reportedly, the movie might hit the streaming platform by the second or third week of June. However, we are still waiting for the official announcement. PS2 or Ponniyin Selvan 2 is a sequel to the 2022 film Ponniyin Selvan 1 starring Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and others in the lead. Initially, it was planned to be released as one single film but was later split given the storyline. Meanwhile, the advance bookings for PS2 look to be fine. The audience is showing interest in it. Plus, there is no other film of such scale releasing alongside it on April 28. As far as the reports suggest, the sequel should be able to cross part 1. Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's epic conclusion to the spectacularly mounted 'Ponniyin Selvan' franchise, 'Ponniyin Selvan 2's brief but eventful theatrical run came to a conclusion, earlier this week. Boasting of a global collection of ₹350 crores in total, the film definitely proved to be profitable, although in comparison to the first film, the second film acquired lesser popularity. Sources believe that the reason behind this trend could be a result followed by a significant drop in the theatrical footfalls in the subsequent weeks that followed, post the release of the film. Another major factor that contributes towards the success of a Pan-Indian production is it's reception outside it's home state. Given that the audience in India is largely unaware about the source material on which the franchise is based upon, a certain disconnect was observed. Hence, unlike it's business in Tamil Nadu, the Hindi and Telugu-speaking markets barely contributed significantly to the film's domestic collections.
