Attock court orders release of anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan

Imran Riaz Khan. — File photo ATTOCK: Anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan on Thursday got relief from a local court when a case filed against him was wrapped up and the police were ordered to release the TV personality if not wanted in another case. Imran Riaz Khan was presented before the court by the Punjab Police, seeking three-day physical remand. He was taken into custody by the police from the Islamabad Toll Plaza when he was going to the federal capital ahead of a hearing in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for an extension in bail. Judicial Magistrate Attock Yasir Tanveer, after hearing the case till 3am, had reserved the verdict which was issued later in the morning. Court grants release to anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan

ATTOCK: An Attock court on Thursday granted immediate relief to Senior Anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan and dismissed the case against him, reported Bol News. As per sources in the know, the senior anchorperson was brought before the court and the police demanded his three-day physical remand which was denied by the court. It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Riaz Khan was detained at Islamabad Toll Plaza and Islamabad High Court (IHC) wrapped up his case saying that the case falls under the jurisdiction of the Lahore High Court. He was later brought to the Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Pervaiz Khan in Rawalpindi who ordered to withdraw the accusations brought against him under the provisions of the PECA. The case was then scheduled for hearing in Attock court and the senior anchorperson was presented before the court last night. The case was heard till 3 am in the morning and the decision was reserved which was announced earlier this morning and Imran Riaz was discharged from the case in light of the facts and circumstances. The order holds that Imran Riaz be immediately released if he wasn’t needed in any other case adding that any legal action should be taken strictly in accordance with the law.

ATTOCK: After Faisalabad, a case was registered against the former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan and others in Attock over the Masjid-e-Nabawi incident. A case has also been registered against Imran Khan and others at New Airport police station in Attock for disrespecting the sanctity of the holy place. Murad Saeed, Fawad Chaudhry, Qasim Su ri, Sheikh Rashid and others have been named in the case. Those nominated in the case include former information minister Fawad Chaudhry, ex-special assistant to the prime minister for political communication Dr Shahbaz Gill, National Assembly former deputy speaker Qasim Khan Suri, MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafique, Aneel Mussarat, a British-Pakistani businessman, and others. Two separate groups, a 150-member group from Pakistan and another group from London, had been sent to Saudi Arabia, who harassed Pakistani pilgrims and stopped them from performing their religious rituals at Masjid-e-Nabawi, read the FIR.

The Chakwalpolice personnel arrested the journalist from outside the courtroom where was presented by the Attock police.
