SSC Income Tax/ Excise Inspectors Exam The Staff Selection Commission (S.S.C.) conducts this examination every year for recruitment to the following posts: • Inspectors' of Central Excise in different Collectorates of Central Excise. • Examiner (Ordinary Grade) in Custom House at Mumbai, Kolkata, Goa, Cochin, Chennai and Vishakhapatnam. • Preventive Officer (Ordinary Grade) in Custom Houses at Mumbai, Calcutta, Goa, Cochin, Chennai and Vishakhapatnam. • Inspector of Income Tax in different charges of the Commissioner of Income-Tax. • Assistant Enforcement Officers in the Directorate of Enforcement (FERA). Eligibility Age: A candidate must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years on the first July of the year of examination. The upper age limit is relaxable in respect of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes Other Backward Classes, Departmental candidates and such other categories of persons as may be decided from time to time. Educational Qualifications: A candidate must hold degree of a recognized University, or equivalent. Physical Standards: For the posts of Inspector of Central Excise and Preventive Officer, candidates will have to satisfy the following minimum physical standards, failing which they will not be eligible for appointment. Hi, I want to know the exact eligibility criteria required of Eye sight requirement for Income/Sales /Excise Inspector jobs? Please tell me asap. Physical criteria for SI post:- Minimum Physical Standard: i) For Male Candidates: Height-1.67 mtrs. Weight-51.5 Kgs Chest-79 cms with a minimum expansion of 5 cms ii) For Female Candidates:- Height-1.60 mtrs. Weight- 45 Kgs iii) Vision : Eye-sight ( with or without glasses ) Distant vision : 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye. Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye. Eye sight is very important to apply for the post of Inspector. If your eyes does not match the stipulated criteria you will be out then & there only.
