Synopsis The Central universities opting for the four-year UG courses are -- Delhi University, Aligarh Muslim University, Viswa Bharti university, Assam University, Tezpur University Central University of Jammu, Sikkim University, National Sanskrit University and Maulana Azad National Urdu University. The Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, English And Foreign Languages University, Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Rajiv Gandhi University and central universities of Haryana, South Bihar and Tamil Nadu have also joined the list. The four-year multidisciplinary Bachelor's programme, however, shall be the preferred option since it allows the opportunity to experience the full range of holistic and multidisciplinary education in addition to a focus on the chosen major and minors as per the choices of the students, the policy had recommended. "The existing CBCS though provides a flexibility for students to choose from a range of disciplines, it lacks multi or inter-disciplinary flavour. In its efforts to revise the CBCS, the UGC has developed 'Curricular Framework and Credit System for FYUGP' by taking into account all relevant policy recommendations of NEP, 2020," UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar told PTI. A case was registered against a professor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) after a PhD student accused him of sexually harassing her, police said. The victim, aged 29, alleged in her complaint that the accused professor, her research supervisor, rejected her PhD pre-submission since she had been rebuffing his sexual advances and overtures. Though she had submitted her PhD pre-submission six months ago, no comments were given by her supervisor and other faculty members of the department, she said. She alleged that her supervisor told her verbally that her thesis was not worth submission and that he would not sign it. The complainant said she was trying to convince her supervisor to sign the thesis for the last six months but he kept refusing. Besides, the supervisor was accused of trying to touch her inappropriately and indulging in sexual conversations while checking her work on her laptop. Phillip Gay Named AMU Rugby Coach

Story Links AVE MARIA, Fla.- The Ave Maria University athletic department is pleased to announce the addition of Phillip Gay to the University as AMU's varsity rugby coach. Gay, a 2019 alumnus of the University, takes control of the program entering its first season of varsity competition. Gay served as the president of what was then Ave Maria's rugby club for two years and served as a team captain during his time with the Gyrenes. He also returned to the University during the 2021-2022 school year as the coach for the club program. "Coach Gay was the ideal candidate," Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Patterson said. "Not only does he have great knowledge of the sport, but he also has tremendous knowledge of the University." Gay played rugby throughout his high school and college career days, beginning play at the age of 12 and playing high school rugby at Gregory the Great Academy. During his playing days at the University, Gay played the positions of inside center, flanker, and eight-man. "I am excited to return to AMU this year as the head coach of the newly minted varsity rugby team," Gay added. "The sport requires an incredible amount of mental and physical endurance, brute strength, technical skill, discipline, and intelligence. In my completely biased opinion, rugby is the best sport for young men to play because it cultivates commitment, perseverance, courage, and friendship."
